CARLSBAD, California – Sulzer Dental, The Practice Building Company™, has received clearance from the FDA to market its AdVent and SwissPlus dental implants for immediate loading. These implants are now indicated for immediate loading in the edentulous mandible when at least four implants are placed and rigidly splinted with a bar.
The benefit of this protocol is that patients can receive their final restoration the day of, or within several days of, their implant placement. Usually, under two-stage protocol the patient would wait three to six months before receiving their final restoration. Immediate loading provides the patient immediate masticatory function, esthetics and reduced treatment time. Clinical success rates for the immediate loading protocol are comparable to traditional, two-stage protocol.1-2 The single-stage protocol will benefit clinicians by reducing the overall surgical time to one surgical session.
