ROSEMONT, Illinois – As treatment philosophies continue to point toward the long-term benefits of dental implants, interest in the field has skyrocketed-and so has attendance at the annual Dental Implant Conference held by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). It was held this year on December 2 and 3 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers. More than 1,400 registrants-OMSs, their office staff and guests-attended the conference and visited the more than 90 companies displaying the latest OMS-related products and services in the Exhibit Hall.

The annual preconference program was expanded in 2005 to include four hands-on clinics. Joining the always popular hands-on courses on intraoral soft tissue techniques and hard tissue surgical techniques were the all new hands-on programs on immediate provisionalization of single and multiple-unit dental implant cases, and on periapical surgery.

The educational program merged clinical skills with practical techniques through sessions such as "A Team Approach to Anterior Bone Grafts," "Management of Endodontic Failure and Root Resorption in the Aesthetic Zone with Implant Replacement," and "Practical Methods for Single Tooth Restoration."

Lead by renowned experts in the field of dental implantology placement, the Dental Implant Conference is quickly earning a reputation for being one of the best educational programs of its kind in the United States.

The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the professional organization representing more than 7,000 oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the United States, supports its members' ability to practice their specialty through education, research, and advocacy. AAOMS members comply with rigorous continuing education requirements and submit to periodic office examinations, ensuring the public that all office procedures and personnel meet stringent national standards.
